WHEN YOU STARE INTO LIFE

Most people give life only quick, darting, fugitive glances —
afraid to stare her full in the face for fear of what they might see.
It is inevitable we all must meet her gaze,
but for most, it is a hurried moment, a glance borne of necessity.

Few ever gaze directly into her eyes.
Those who muster — and master — the courage to hold that gaze
are never the same again.

She will cup your face in her ever-steady hands
and look deep into your soul,
leaving you in a space, with a pace,
in a place that is never quite the same.

Your spirit emerges shimmering with something different —
a quiet knowing, a subtle flame.
Her gaze is unnerving, not for the faint of heart,
but within that tremor lies rebirth.

To truly stare into life is to be undone and remade —
to see not what you wish to see,
but what you must.
