When the sun refuses to shine

I lay silent but awake on my mother's body
With my head pressed against her breast
Those snors she makes that quietens my soul
Assures me of the brightness of a new day
But something strange I feel beneath my breath
And then with my little hands I pull her black hair
But there she lay still
And I began to sob and unlike yesterday
She said nothing
And then my young heart began to bleed
And my eyes sent her showers
Even when I didn't understand anything
And then I knew my sun won't rise
When her soft frame was laid behind the earth
