What a real trading screen looks like vs what social media shows you.

Social media: green candles going up. Screenshots of 500% gains. Lamborghinis.

Reality: multiple monitors. Dozens of indicators you are still learning to read. A spreadsheet tracking every trade including the ones you lost. A journal where you write what you did wrong. Cold coffee.

THE REAL TRADING SETUP:

Screen 1: Charts - your primary trading pairs with your key levels drawn
Screen 2: News feed - economic calendar, breaking news, sentiment
Screen 3: Your broker/execution platform - order book, positions, P&L
Optional: a trading journal app or spreadsheet open at all times

THE TOOLS THAT ACTUALLY MATTER:
- TradingView (charting - free tier is enough to start)
- Economic calendar (ForexFactory or Investing.com)
- A broker with low spreads and fast execution
- A JOURNAL. Non-negotiable. Every trade. Every reason. Every outcome.

Nobody posts the journal. Nobody screenshots the losses. But that is where the learning happens.

the cold coffee part hit me right in the soul this morning lol. i got so obsessed with trying to set up my tradingview layout perfect that i forgot to actually drink my coffee. journaling is definitely the hardest part for me, i keep skipping it when i lose but you're right thats where the actual learning is. do you prefer typing trades or handwriting?
