Founded in 1836, Wesley Girls’ High School (popularly known as "Wey Gey Hey") is Ghana’s oldest and most prestigious all-girls secondary school. Located in Cape Coast, it was established by Methodist missionaries under the leadership of Rev. Thomas Birch Freeman to provide education to African girls—an idea that was groundbreaking at the time.
Originally started with only 25 girls, it was one of the first institutions to promote female education in Ghana.
