The Yobe State Governor H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN, has called on farmers and other communities in the state to focus on dry and wet farming to ensure his government's goal of combating food insecurity, creating jobs, and providing food security for the good people of northern Nigeria and that of Nigeria as a whole.
The governor made this statement while commissioning the opening of a large water dam that will help boost the economy of dry farming and the distribution of agricultural products in Buni Yadi.
"It is good that you use all the measures we have put in place to develop agriculture because with this agriculture we will revive the economy of Yobe State, provide employment to our people and fight against food insecurity that has plagued the people and is oppressing them through rising prices.
"If you have not forgotten, a few days ago we launched a mega agric-empowerment which has never been done before in northern Nigeria based on our goal of improving agriculture and transforming it from a small business to a business that will provide employment and means of self-reliance for thousands of people in Yobe State and provide jobs and shelter to other communities from different parts of Nigeria." Governor Buni said.
He also urged the good people of the state to return to farming to support the government in the fight against hunger and unemployment and called on the youth to take up businesses because God does not like idleness.
"Go back to farming and work hard; use these support tools in a way that is appropriate because only in this way will you help us fight hunger, poverty and hunger that has afflicted the good people of our state.
"Our youths, work hard to maintain your two-handed professions because with the professions you do, you will hide your secrets, and God does not like idleness. If you maintain a profession, you will never be a threat to the good people of Yobe State, and you will never be deceived by any form of terrorism." Gov. Buni added
