USE STRONG ACTION WORDS!

Three days ago, I attended a business conference and I observed something pertinent and I'd like to share it with you.

It was a converge of business managers and each of them, got an opportunity to relate with the crowd, while also selling their brand.

With the audience getting silent, and all eyes set on the stage, these managers mounted the podium.

Of course, I grabbed my notepad, getting ready to get an imprint of everything they said on my book, so thereafter, I could compare and read on it extensively.

Remember that a writer must be a listener too!

As much as you're a writer, you wouldn't get insight if you do not listen, and not necessarily talking all the time.

So back to my story.***

The first business manager, (I'll call him Mr. A) mounted the podium and literally, screamed at the top of his lungs, thinking it would make sense.

Apparently, he assumed that the audience was not learned enough to hear him properly, if he didn't scream.

He passed his message in such a loud way and personally, I feared for his breath because he was technically running out of it.

Was his message passed? Absolutely!
"More like, if you don't buy my product, or subscribe to my brand, you're finished "... lol

***
There was another lady, I'll call her Madam B.

A beautiful, soft-spoken and well collected lady, who seemed like she was about to be a better presenter, with her very beautiful convincing smile.

Inwardly, I rooted for her, (women supporting women, eh!).

Madam B, began speaking and after the first statement where she had to introduce herself and also be acquainted with the audience, she went from a mid range to an almost zero.

She presented her thoughts in such a slow way that, I bet I saw a young girl in the audience, dozing off.

Madam B, may have had valid points but she wasn't bold enough or should I say, her words didn't command enough.

She spent more time, trying to counter Mr. A's points, rather than focus on her brand.

Was her message passed? Of course!
"Well, if you don't buy with me, you can buy with another person but don't buy with Mr. A", ....(weird!)

Finally, there was the last lady. I'll refer to her as Madam C.

With the earlier experience with Madam B, I wasn't ready to have myself disappointed again but still, I rooted for her.

The pretty, dark skin lady, a true replica of the 'brown skin girl', smiled to the audience, introduced herself and took flight immediately.

Carefully, intimating us with everything her brand had and was about to have, she listed all of them in few seconds.

Her voice was confident! She didn't have to scream and neither did she drawl, like she was trying to lull a baby to sleep.

Madam C, had our eyes fixed on her that we didn't even know when the timing was over.

Honestly, she stole a few minutes from the organisers of the conference, (she apologised politely for that), so she could round up.

Was her message passed? You bet, it was!
It sounded like, "With all of these good things happening around you, will you not want to be on the winning team, already?"

Oh, before I forget, Madam C got an applause and her corner was filled with people, who wanted to have a taste of the goodness, she talked about.

That's what we mean when we say , Someone has generously applied the Use of Strong, Action Words!

As a writer, you may be asked to speak someday but if you don't get this opportunity, your work would be ready to another person.

So, make sure you write with strong, action words in a way that you don't scream nor do you drawl your words.

Speak with intentions!
Write with intentions!
Let your audience or readers, be convinced enough to trust you!
