The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has been honored with two prestigious traditional titles in a single day, reflecting his growing stature as a leader admired beyond state boundaries.
In Funakaye, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Funakaye, Yakubu Muhammad Kwairanga IV, conferred on Gov. Buni the revered title of Dikuma of Funakaye. The appointment letter, personally signed by the Emir, stated that the honor was based purely on merit and in recognition of the Governor’s meritorious service to humanity, humility, and commitment to peace and development.
On the same day, the governor was also honored in Nafada with the respected traditional title of Muqadas of Nafada, bestowed by the Nafada Emirate Council. The conferment further underscores the deep appreciation Gov. Buni enjoys among neighboring communities for his inclusive leadership style and good neighborliness.
Gov. Buni is already a recipient of numerous traditional titles from within and outside Yobe State, cutting across cultural and regional lines; these latest honors—Dikuma of Funakaye and Muqadas of Nafada—add to a long list that symbolizes unity, acceptance, and respect.
Widely celebrated for a life marked by humility, patience, accommodation, love, and generosity, Gov. Buni remains loved by his people and cherished by his neighbors.
Our governor, our pride!!!
