The executive chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has won back the Potiskum LGA Orchard after six years of legal battle between the Potiskum Local Government Area and Alh. Musa Dan Dutse.
On Friday, 27th June, 2025, the Court of Appeal, after hearing arguments between Potiskum LGA and Alh. Musa Dan Dutse, ruled on the ownership of the orchard located near Gadan Kano, Kano Road, where the court confirmed that it belongs to Potiskum LGA.
The chairman pursued the case to recover government assets that were illegally acquired, and he was committed to following the necessary procedures to recover anything that was in the public domain for the betterment of the community.
The orchard will greatly help boost the economy of the local government, where the agricultural department of the local government will use it in a various ways to strengthen the economy and welfare of the sector and local government.
The chairman vowed to prevent any corruption and to pursue any property owned by the local government that has been illegally acquired by others.
The court’s ruling and six years of legal proceedings from various courts to the Court of Appeal have confirmed that Potiskum Local Government is responsible for the ownership of the orchard located near Gadan Kano, Kano Road, Potiskum LGA.
Hon. Salisu Muktari has shown his commitment to ensuring justice by personally pursuing the case to recover the property of the Potiskum Local Government area.
