These Flowers Shall Wither
Even, for a being, who,
generally declared silly,
if sees a Lily, shall admit
it’s pretty. Lavender or
Bougainvillea, as adorns
yards of urban villa.
.
I’ve seen flowers in
mornings, in silver icing
of distilled dew, earlier than
sun’s rise to a thawing ray,
and in twilights, as cool
winds dismiss midday heats;
all gracefully and grandly.
.
I saw Roses and keeled
like one doused in excess
doses of slumber pills.
By her beauty, my fingertips
tingle, often as I dare tickle;
and, Begonia I saw; saw
Blue Daisy, Bouncing Bet
and Bush Violet, as
charming as robes of Life.
I’ve seen Coral Drops, seen
Candytuft and Christmas
Bell, Hibiscus, stocks of Noble
class and florals of lesser
discuss, all are beauties to
eulogise.
.
But, tell the florist to labour
less, and the passersby to
pluck and be blest, and the
wayfarers to admire their
best, for, the flowers shall
wither, when seasons aged,
and times lastly spent, and
span of endurance approached
its stretch, these flowers
certainly, shall wither.
