Hold that steady! Yes you! Hold it!
You grabbed a pen, passionately and you want to soil the crispy, white paper in front of you and you're worried.
Or, you open your writing app and you're afraid of making that mistake or starting on a bad note.
POV: "I don't know how to start".
Ans: Start anywhere and anyhow!
POV: "I've made too many mistakes".
Ans: Well, J.K Rowling did too but she became famous with her best seller, which is the Harry Potter book.
POV: "What if they don't like it?",
Ans: There are billions in the world and at least you'll find one person, who would love your work.
POV: "But...I'm stressed and not in the right frame of mind right now".
Ans: So many bestsellers were written, during the hardest days of the author's lives. Some were going through a divorce, poverty or even lost out on life.
So...now tell me, why you're afraid of being intentional?
Be confident to look at the empty screen or book, excited to put down the figment of your imagination.
Please, I'll like to reiterate it here, that your writing doesn't have to be perfect at the go.
Do you know how many manuscripts that I've had to dump and begin again?
Feel free to soil that paper with ink and if it doesn't come out well or give you that satisfaction that you craved for, then, rip it out and start again.
For some of us that use, our systems to write, please use the delete button generously.
Remember, that mistakes are meant to be corrected not to frighten us into hibernation.
Don't be afraid to Start again!
Be an intentional writer because when you do this, your readers will feel safe and convinced that, you know what you're doing.
Honestly, I can sense the kind of writer that you are and it's totally wrong, when anybody feels that you're a weak one.
It's your writing, so when you do it, take charge of it without any apologies. Some of your readers trust you to handle their mental drill, so don't fail them.
Dear writer, TAKE CHARGE UNAPOLOGETICALLY!
Yours in Writing,
Pen-Queen Affang.
Follow me for more writing guidelines and feel free to let me know your struggles in writing.
