"The Wise in Their Own Eyes"
In halls of mirrors, they prance and preen
Reflections of ego, their wisdom unseen
A masquerade of insight, they wear with pride
But beneath the surface, a hollow, echoing tide
Their minds, a fortress, walls of certitude high
Impenetrable, yet fragile, as a spider's sigh
They weave a narrative of self-proclaimed might
But threads of doubt, and fear, unravel in the night
With eyes of stone, they gaze upon the land
Blind to the beauty, of a humble hand
Their hearts, a desert, arid, void of empathy
A barren landscape, where compassion's seeds can't be
Their words, a river, swollen with self-importance wide
But shallow, lacking depth, and a gentle, loving tide
They mistake the whisper, of their own voice for the divine
And miss the symphony, of a thousand hearts that entwine
In labyrinths of their own making, they wander lost
Chasing shadows of wisdom, that forever flee the cost
Of true insight, born from humility's dark soil
Where roots of understanding, and empathy's sweet toil
Oh, the irony, of wisdom's self-proclaimed throne
A pedestal of pride, where love and truth are overthrown
For in the silence, where hearts and minds entwine
Lies the true wisdom, that's not just self-defined.
