The Weight Of A Thousand Tears

In this land of green and white, where dreams are made to bleed
A cacophony of suffering echoes, a symphony of need
The streets are filled with tears, the air is thick with pain
A harmony of hardship that refuses to wane
We pray in mosques and churches, our voices raised to the sky
But the silence of God is deafening, as our hopes go by
We gather to plead for peace, for love and light to shine
But the darkness lingers, a constant reminder of our decline
The drums of discontent beat loud, a chorus of despair
A melody of marginalization that fuels the flames of anger and care
From north to south, east to west, the rhythm of suffering remains
A refrain of insecurity, corruption, and hunger's pangs
Will change come, like a dawn's warm light?
Will our children be proud to call this land their home, their sight?
Will corruption's grip finally loosen, its hold on us release?
Will Nigeria rise, to greatness yet untold, to a brighter peace?
Will her citizens be content, with justice and peace that reign?
Will the discord cease, and harmony remain, like a sweet, sweet refrain?
Only time will tell, if this land will heal, if love will conquer fear
But till then, we'll hold on to hope, and wipe away our tears.
