The things I used to do

As a toddler crawling around was the first thing I learned
The smiles and giggles on my mum's face were my fuel
As a child running around was a quest
This I do mostly to impress
Puberty came and took away all I held dear
I became grumpy and watch my mum nag
The things I used to do, I do no more
The joy of crawling now babyish
The excitement in running around now childish.
Adolescence promise to be better
Yet I just couldn't agree with my mother
Life picture became clearer
And I wondered if I could go further
Adulthood brought realization and acceptance
The freedom of teenage years gone
The string of adulthood tightening up on me
I became the version of my mother
As her words become sacred
I turned her secret admirer
Praying and hoping I'll be a better version of her
The things I used to do, I do no more.
