The Stationary Minute

"Evil exists unprovoked, and if you let it consume you, it'll destroy you from the inside out.." The old geezer sitting beside me mumbled behind his dense mustache that ate up his mouth out of visual existence. His crackling voice ensued a feeling of both contentment and dissatisfaction. It's as if he had experienced hell on earth, gratifying the opportunity of having a glimpse of heaven at the end of the pitch dark tunnel. I was stationary for a minute as I gently gobbled up the philosophical representation dropped on my lap.
Emotions ignited, thoughts summoned, I was being drafted out of reality. "What could the statement possibly mean?" I constantly poked my brain for an answer. Finally, I came up with a possible solution, that from the moment we are born, our actions are innocently antagonistic. Since we are naturally selfish, we learn the good in the world with imitation and experience. Therefore we ought to better ourselves with each passing day, not allowing the darkness that lurks within to consume the light that's blazing on the outside.
