As photographers, we often pray for that serendipitous moment - being at the right place at the right time. Today, I experienced just that. En route back from school, I stumbled upon a friend street busking at Yaba, Lagos. Initially, I planned to capture him discreetly and surprise him with the photos later. However, his captivating performance and the surrounding scenery enthralled me, and I found myself immersed in documenting the moment.

Fate had other plans, too. I had initially committed to covering a concert later in the evening, but a last-minute change of heart led me to skip it. As it turned out, the concert was postponed. The universe, it seemed, was orchestrating a different kind of shot.

Just as my friend finished performing, a yellow danfo bus, which had caught fire close to Tejuoso, Yaba, Lagos, came to an abrupt halt nearby, prompting screams from the crowd. In that split second, I weighed a multitude of options - video or photo, tight shot or wide shot? But instinct took over, and I simply photographed.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, thanks to the timely intervention of onlookers.

That moment taught me a valuable lesson: sometimes, the best thing to do is simply to capture. Don't overthink, don't hesitate. Just photograph. I hope this image inspires fellow photographers to trust their instincts and seize the moment.
