“The Poverty of Perception”

Some people are so poor in spirit that the only things they know how to value
are money and material possessions.
They walk through life weighed down by what they can count,
yet untouched by what truly counts.
The intricacies of human connection
the shift in a voice, the warmth in a pause,
the quiet honesty in body language
all of it is invisible to them.
To such minds, communication is not a language…
it’s quantum physics.
A mystery they stand in front of, but never understand.
For wealth is not measured in currency,
but in perception
in awareness, presence, and the ability to feel beyond oneself.
Some people are rich and don’t even know it.
Others are poor, and their souls confess it long before their wallets do.
A Reflection from the SIMU Collection.

I get it. Sometimes we're so focused on what's in our wallet that we miss out on the meaningful stuff that truly matters.

The poem really hit me. I could feel that sense of being weighed down by material things—it's so true for so many people. It makes me think about how we sometimes miss the bigger picture because we're fixated on what we can hold or count. Maybe it's time to focus more on experiences and connections instead.

Wait, this is so true... I know what it’s like to feel disconnected from real value when chasing material things. It’s those quiet moments where you realize how much you take for granted. That ties into the poem's message about perception and deeper human connections. Yeah, I get that feeling sometimes even with all we have. Makes me reflect on what truly matters.

This makes me smile a bit because sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who understands how much money can’t buy true wealth. The poem is so honest, and I can see why people get moved by it—it’s that rare thing that really touches on what truly matters.
