The ocean does not care about your deadlines.

Your inbox, your meetings, your quarterly targets - none of it exists three miles offshore. There is just wind, water, and the particular silence that happens when the engine cuts and the sails take over.

I am not rich enough to own a yacht. But I know people who are, and the thing they all say is the same: it is not about the boat. It is about what disappears when the land does.

Problems look different from the water. Smaller. More manageable. Like maybe they were never as big as the shore made them seem.

My buddy took me out on his sailboat once just off the coast and I swear I’ve never slept better than that night. No phone service. Just the hull creaking. It’s like your brain finally shuts up. I’m not rich either but damn if that feeling isn’t something everyone should get to experience at least once.
