The magic of a photograph

Today I saw a photograph,
It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen,
It reminded me of someone,
Someone I kept close to my heart
And it filled my heart with rush of emotions
Emotions I had never felt,
So raw and overwhelming,
I can’t understand why something as simple as a photo,
Can make me want to smile,
But at the same time make me want to cry.

I am confused,
I don’t understand how a photograph,
As simple as it may be,
Makes my heart race,
I have seen beauty before,
But never have I seen such a beautiful sight,
So simple but yet so elegant and enchanting,
How can something so simple,
Make me feel so complex.

But the photograph also made me realize something,
The person that makes me feel this way wasn’t with me,
Because of this,
The same photograph that filled me joy,
Also made my heartache in pain.
Seeing a face without being able feel the presence is torture,
It is indeed the greatest of pain,
A photograph creates the illusion of being near to someone,
But in reality,
That person is miles away from you.

A photograph,
What a beautiful and magical thing,
That brings both sadness and joy,
It makes us cry and smile at the same time,
It makes us feel,
The perfect blend of sorrow and joy.
