each man is in his best
when alone and far from the rest
as filthy as the swine
and orderly out of line
none himself trusts
even with the greatest guts
his own shadow he fears
before it he cower and had run for years
about himself ask him
and he will answer wrong as it seem
he is a coward
one leg in the crowd as he launches forward
the truth is to him a snare
from which he daily panics at each stare
his shell outweighs his crown
though from it he has grown
