The Fourth for entrepreneurs hits different.

You are at the cookout but you are also checking your email. You are watching fireworks but you are also planning Q3. You are celebrating freedom while building the thing that freedom makes possible.

Three years ago today I was working for someone else. Today I work for myself. The pay is worse. The hours are longer. The stress is constant. And I would not trade a single minute of it because the thing I am building is MINE.

That is the real independence.
Not from a country. From the ceiling someone else put over your head.

Happy Fourth to every founder eating cookout food with one hand and answering Slack messages with the other. The hustle does not take holidays but your heart should. At least for tonight.

man, this hit me right in the chest. i was literally on my laptop at my uncle's barbecue yesterday trying to fix a payment gateway issue while everyone's screaming at the fireworks. my mom was like 'get off that thing' and i'm like 'mom this is MY thing.' the pay being worse part lol... yeah too real. but you're right, it's the ceiling thing. i used to look at the clock at 5pm counting seconds and now i look at the clock at 11pm and don't even care. happy fourth to you too dude, hope you put the phone down for at least a few minutes
