THE FORGING OF A WARRIOR

The greatest warriors are sometimes born of the strangest circumstances.
He never envisioned himself with hilt in hand, blade arcing through the air in a punishing, fatal sweep.
He never imagined his feet parted and grounded in a fighter’s stance,
breath steady, heart cold, resolve sharpened to a killing edge.

No in his mind’s eye,
he saw himself painting a quiet portrait,
overlooking a stream where the water murmured small secrets to the stones.
He saw blades of grass swaying gently ever green,
soft as the Irish fields he once read about.
A man of stillness, of colours, of peace.

But fate…
Fate does not knock politely.
It barges in like an uninvited guest,
eating and drinking more than those who were actually welcomed.
It drags chairs, spills wine, breaks the music
and demands a seat at the head table.

And circumstances…
ah, circumstances will forge you into something you never dreamed of becoming.
They will thrust you into a furnace so blisteringly hot
that even a star would gasp for breath in its heart.
They will crush, melt, reshape
until the person you were can no longer recognize the warrior you’ve become.

For destiny is not always gentle.
It has its own blueprint.
Its own agenda.
Its own storms.

And sometimes,
those who were born to create beauty
are the very ones fate calls upon
to wield the sword that changes everything.
