The sky is blue,
The heavy rain, seized.
The mother lays blue,
Turning in violent seethe.
The baby, willing!
The mother, whining!
The midwives, trying!
The father, hoping!
"How long yet?"
The mother asks, in violent despair,
"How far yet?"
The doctor asks in evident distraught.
The sky is grey,
The mother lays blue,
The child lays blue,
The father grieves.
