✝️

The final days of the school year arrived like the slow fade of twilight—tinged with both beauty and sorrow. The School of the Spirit, once a place of tension and division, now thrummed with unity and purpose, thanks to the unwavering presence of Jesus. His classmates had been forever changed by his wisdom, kindness, and the miracles he performed with humility. But as the days dwindled, so did the certainty that their time with him would last.

It was Abigail who felt it first. Her visions had been quiet for weeks, but one evening as she sat by the lake near the school grounds, a powerful image overtook her. She saw Jesus walking a path that twisted between light and shadow, ending in both a cross and a crown.

The next morning, Abigail sought Jesus in the garden behind the library. She found him sitting beneath a fig tree, his hands resting on his knees as he gazed at the horizon.

“I saw something,” she said, her voice trembling.

Jesus turned to her, his expression calm but knowing. “What did you see?”

Her eyes filled with tears. “Your path. It’s filled with so much… pain. But also glory. You’ll be rejected, but you’ll also change the world.”

Jesus reached out, taking her hands in his. “Do not fear for me, Abigail. Every step of my journey has a purpose, even the painful ones.”

Abigail’s tears spilled over. “But why must it be you? Why can’t someone else carry this burden?”

He smiled gently. “Because it’s what I was sent to do. But remember, Abigail, no one walks their path alone. I will carry you, too, just as you have carried me with your faith.”

Her heart ached, but his words brought her a strange sense of peace.

As the week drew to a close, the students gathered in the main hall for a farewell assembly. Eli, now the school’s principal, spoke warmly about the year’s growth and the challenges they had overcome together.

But it was Jesus’ turn to speak that everyone waited for. When he stepped up to the podium, a hush fell over the room.

“My friends,” he began, his voice steady and clear, “this year has been unlike any other. We’ve faced trials, doubts, and even betrayal, but we’ve also learned what it means to stand together. And that unity is a gift none of us should take for granted.”

He looked out at the sea of faces, his gaze lingering on each of his closest friends. “I won’t be here next year. My journey is taking me elsewhere. But the work we’ve started here—it’s only the beginning.”

The students murmured in surprise and dismay. John leaned forward in his seat, his brow furrowed. Peter crossed his arms, struggling to mask his hurt. Abigail, seated near the front, nodded, her earlier vision echoing in her mind.

“Each of you has a part to play,” Jesus continued. “You may not know it now, but your gifts, your faith, and your love will touch more lives than you can imagine. Trust in that. Trust in each other.”

Later that evening, Jesus gathered his closest friends—John, Abigail, Peter, and even Judas—for a final meal together under the stars. The weight of his departure hung heavily in the air, but Jesus refused to let sorrow overshadow their time.

John broke the silence first. “You’ve always known this was coming, haven’t you?”

Jesus nodded. “From the beginning.”

Peter clenched his fists. “Then why didn’t you tell us sooner? We could’ve—”

“Could’ve what, Peter?” Jesus interrupted gently. “Changed what was meant to be?”

Peter looked down, his frustration melting into understanding.

Abigail spoke next, her voice soft. “Will we ever see you again?”

Jesus smiled. “You’ll see me in the work you do, in the lives you change. And one day, we’ll all be together again.”

Judas, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, finally spoke. “And what about me?” His tone was sharp, but there was a flicker of vulnerability in his eyes.

Jesus turned to him, his gaze steady. “You have a choice, Judas. You always have. Whatever you decide, know that my love for you remains.”

Judas looked away, his expression unreadable.

When dawn broke, Jesus stood at the gates of the school, a simple pack slung over his shoulder. The students gathered to see him off, their faces a mix of sadness and gratitude.

Eli stepped forward, placing a hand on Jesus’ shoulder. “You’ve left a legacy here, one that will not be forgotten.”

Jesus bowed his head in thanks.

As he turned to leave, Peter called out, “Wait!” He ran forward, his usual bravado replaced with vulnerability. “Just promise us one thing. Promise you won’t forget us.”

Jesus smiled, his eyes bright with affection. “I could never forget you, Peter. You’ll always be in my heart.”

He looked at the crowd one last time. “Be kind to one another. Be brave. And above all, love.”

With that, he walked down the path, the morning light casting a golden glow around him. The students watched until he disappeared from sight, their hearts heavy but inspired.

---

In the weeks that followed, the School of the Spirit began to change. Inspired by Jesus’ teachings, the students started initiatives to help their community, using their gifts to serve others. The seeds Jesus had planted began to grow, spreading beyond the school’s walls.

Abigail continued to share her visions, guiding her friends with the wisdom she’d gained. John found his voice as a leader, his faith deepened by his friendship with Jesus. Peter became a protector, his once-hot temper now tempered by love and patience. Even Judas wrestled with his choices, the echo of Jesus’ words haunting and challenging him.

Years later, when the story of Jesus’ life began to unfold in the wider world, those who had known him at the School of the Spirit would remember this time as the beginning of something extraordinary—a crossroads where their lives intersected with his, forever changed by his love and grace.

And though Jesus had left, his presence remained, a light that no darkness could ever extinguish…

The End….
