Chapter One — When Heaven Sent A Friend Request ( CONT'D)
💊💊💊
The next morning, as he was walking out of Adeyemi's gate in Ondo City, he passed a street preacher with cracked voice shouting, “Repent! Accept the invitation of Heaven today!” Christian froze. For a second, he could swear the man’s words sounded exactly like the notification he saw in his dream. He shook his head and muttered, “Coincidence.”

Later that day, a gospel song played in a passing keke, and the chorus repeated like a push notification: “Heaven is calling you.” He laughed nervously, adjusted his earphones, and increased the volume of Burna Boy's song in his playlist. But deep down, his chest tightened.

That night, the dream repeated. The same phone. The same request. This time, the notification didn’t just flash. It rang like a call. The ringtone wasn’t MTN, Airtel, or Glo. It was thunder mixed with a choir’s harmony, like something you feel in your bones more than you hear with your ears.

Christian woke up sweating. He sat on his bed, held his head in his hands, and whispered, “What if… it’s real?”

But then came his excuse:
“I’m not ready. If I accept this request, it means I have to start behaving. No more small sins. No more coded runs. What if I mess up after accepting?”

So he delayed. Day after day. Week after week. Just like many of us.

You see, Christian’s story may sound funny, but isn’t it ours? Heaven has been sending friend requests for years. Through random sermons we pretend not to hear. Through Bible verses that suddenly pop in our hearts when we’re scrolling at 2am. Through that small nudge when we lie, cheat, or lust, and something whispers, “Stop.” Through songs we didn’t plan to hear, yet they sink into our spirit.

We treat all these as spam. We swipe away the notifications. We say, “I’ll accept later, when I’m done enjoying life.” But deep inside, the request doesn’t vanish.

The truth is: Heaven doesn’t stop knocking. Because the CEO Himself doesn’t want anyone to perish.

Christian thought he was in control of the phone. But in reality, the phone was in control of him. His destiny was waiting for one click: Accept Request.

And until he clicked it, nothing else on his Phone of Destiny made sense.

I feel you! The never-ending push notifications don't make sense at first but could be from someone important. Trying to get through the day without letting my phone decide what's important.
