DAY 12 - TRADITIONAL ATTIRES OF THE BENUE PEOPLE

Benue State is classified under the North-Central region of Nigeria. Like almost every state in Nigeria, Benue State has many ethnic groups with different cultural beliefs and traditions. The Tiv has the largest population in the state. Here are few of the Benue people.
TIV
The Tiv are found in the following local governments in Benue - Ala, Buruku, Gboko, Gwer East, Gwer west, Katsina Guma, Konshisha, Kwande, Logo, Makurdi, Tarkaa, Ukum, Ushongo, Vandeikya LGAs. Their traditionnel attire is the combination of deep black and white horizontal lines. It's always a beauty to behold these zebra lines at cultural and religious events.
The Idoma
A group of friendly people, the idomas wear a combination of red and deep black horizontal stripes as a traditional attire.
The Igede
These beautiful group of people reside in Obi and Oju local government areas of the state.
The Igede, like their brothers wear stripes of blue, white and black. During the Igede Agba festival, there Cultural heritage comes alive.
Other tribes include Nyifon, Jukun, Abakpa and Etulo who share a similar black and white patterned attire.
