Located just a short drive from Soroti town, Soroti Airport is a regional gem with both civil and aviation training functions. Originally built as a military facility, it has evolved into one of Uganda’s prominent aviation centers, especially for flight training and emergency services.

Key Features at a Glance:

Dual Role: Functions as both a public airport and home to the East African Civil Aviation Academy (EACAA)

Runway: A robust asphalt runway (1,860 meters) capable of handling light to medium aircraft

Altitude: Stands at 3,692 feet above sea level, offering clear skies for training and chartered flights

Services: Primarily supports domestic charters, humanitarian flights, and aviation education

Strategic Importance:
Soroti Airport is the backbone of pilot training in Uganda. EACAA has trained hundreds of East African pilots and continues to be a critical center for regional aviation excellence. The airport also acts as a launching pad for operations supporting the Karamoja region, humanitarian services, and eco-tourism routes.

Traveler Tips:

Book in advance for charter services as there are no scheduled commercial flights

A good starting point if you're exploring northeastern Uganda or heading into remote conservation areas

Visit the East African Civil Aviation Academy if interested in Uganda’s aviation heritage

A place where wings are born and humanitarian skies are navigated, Soroti Airport isn't just a runway—it’s a lifeline in the skies of eastern Uganda.
