It was a long day and I just got back home from work.
Mom: you should stop smoking in here it's affecting the children's health and mental fitness
Dad: it's not my issue they should go somewhere else to read
Mom : Really
( as she gives him a kind of special glare)
Dad: hey I didn't mean to.... Sorry
Dad: ah, James you are back
Me: sorry I came earlier than usual
Mom: come on go drop your bag and assist your younger brother with his homework.
Mom: I heard that the College you applied for accepted you. How do you feel? You'll be leaving this home soon.
Me: I think I feel great.
Dad: college life might be though. I still want to say this sorry we can't afford to get you a private dorm so you'll be staying in the one in college is that fine by you?
Me: come on dad!!! It's no big deal besides I heard that college life is gonna be fun in the school dermatory.
Mum: well make sure to help in whatever way we can.
Josh: big bro work hard and I'll do my best too
Me: I assure you I won't let you down.
Dad: now that's said!! Remember you are a introvert how would you really feel... I know your social anxiety gets much when 4 people talk to you at once.
Mum: it's true you might be up to a hundred in college can you handle that.
Josh: heheheh he pieed in his pants after he spoke to pastor alone
As they all burst into laughter I felt that I'm going to miss them....
Now arriving at a new stage of life college life... I heard that my room is gonna be for two people I hope we won't have arguements..
While I was going there I say my best friend who always took chocolate that girls give me to take and I don't accept.
Daren: bro long time no see
Me: yes I think so.... Take your voice down a bit
Daren: head about that what's your room number
Me: 65
Darren: oh mine it's 64 I heard that 64 and 65 usually have fag as roommates.
Me: it's just rumors,
Darren: really I hope so... I'll love to meet my future husband
Me: say what I thought you were straight.
Darren: oh I you thought but sorry I am not..
Me: well thank you for accompanying me to my room.
Darren: yeah yeah...
As I opened the door and I walked in the room looked big a little but one bed that's literally like a couples bed.. I turned to the bathroom quite ordinary size to me.. I got in to take a shower and then when I got out I saw somone he looked at me and said this is his room too. He sat on the bed. His deep blue eyes coily hair and muscular shaped body... He didn't really speak much and it was fine by me until I asked the most strangest question.
Me: sorry to ask are you a gay?
Him: how can you tell I isn't reveal my identity to you
He said that as he leaned in close to me. my heart started to race.... I said it's just a random guess...
Him: my name is Ayrane
Me: my name is James... It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance
Ayrane: okay I guess....
Gosh the atmosphere feel all tensed up... Now...
Ayrane's gaze lingered on mine, his deep blue eyes seeming to pierce through me.
Me: (nervously chuckling) So, Ayrane, what's your major?
Ayrane: (still leaning in, his voice low) Computer Science.
Me: (swallowing hard) Nice. I'm doing Business Administration.
Ayrane: (sitting back) Cool.
The silence that followed was oppressive, like a weight pressing down on me.
Me: (trying to break the tension) So, where are you from?
Ayrane: (his eyes never leaving mine) Here.
Me: (fidgeting) Okay...
Suddenly, Ayrane stood up, his muscular frame towering over me
Ayrane: (smirking) Want to know a secret, James
Me: (heart racing) Uh, sure...
Ayrane leaned in, his breath whispering against my ear
Ayrane: I'm not just any computer science major...
Me: (electricity coursing through my veins) What do you mean?
Ayrane's smile sent shivers down my spine
Me: (nervously) Excuse me, Ayrane, I need to grab some food outside.
Ayrane: (raising an eyebrow) Already?
Me: (forced laugh) Yeah, I skipped lunch.
As I turned to leave, I felt an inexplicable urge to clarify.
Me: (turning back) And, uh, Ayrane?
Ayrane: (questioning) Yeah?
Me: (firmly) I'm not... you know, gay or anything.
Ayrane's expression remained unreadable, but his eyes flashed with something.
Ayrane: (softly) Okay...
Me: (quickly) I just thought I'd clarify.
Ayrane: (nodding) Clarified.
I hastened out of the room, feeling a mix of relief and unease
As I walked to the nearby café, my mind replayed the encounter
Why did I feel the need to clarify my orientation?
And what was with Ayrane's intense gaze?
I shook my head, ordering a sandwich and trying to shake off the tension
But the memory of Ayrane's deep blue eyes lingered.
And the way he said "Clarified"...
Weeks passed, and college life became a whirlwind of classes, tutorials, and assignments.
I made friends with Rachel, Alex, and Mike, and we often studied together.
But amidst the chaos, Ayrane's presence lingered, constantly teasing me.
In the cafeteria, he'd sit next to me, his arm brushing against mine.
Ayrane: (smirking) Hey, James. Still convinced you're straight?
Me: (nervously laughing) Yeah. Leave me alone.
In class, he'd whisper sarcastic comments, making me blush.
Ayrane: (whispering) You're so focused on that lecture. Want to take notes together?
Me: (firmly) No.
During tutorials, he'd sit across from me, his deep blue eyes locked onto mine.
Ayrane: (smiling) James, you're so quiet today. Everything okay?
Me: (irritated) Just focus on the task.
Rachel noticed the tension and asked:
Rachel: Hey, James, what's going on between you and Ayrane?
Me: (shrugging) Nothing. Just annoying.
But Rachel's knowing glance told me she saw more.
One evening, as I walked back to my dorm, Ayrane caught up to me.
Ayrane: (teasingly) Hey, James. Want to grab dinner together?
Me: (firmly) No.
Ayrane: (laughing) Still playing hard to get?
Suddenly, he spun me around, his eyes burning with intensity.
Ayrane: (low, husky voice) James, why are you so scared of me?
My heart racing, I pushed him away.
Me: (firmly) Leave me alone, Ayrane.
Ayrane's smile faltered, and for a moment, I saw something else.
Something that looked like genuine curiosity
James stepped into the shower, letting the warm water wash away his fatigue.
Unaware, Ayrane entered the shower area, their proximity sparking tension.
As Ayrane's lips brushed against James', memories long suppressed resurfaced.
James's mind flashed back to age 13, when he was raped and tortured.
Men had exploited him, viewing him as a sex slave, hidden from his family.
The trauma, the pain, and the fear came flooding back.
James pushed Ayrane away, fleeing the shower.
Ayrane concealed his happiness, puzzled by James's haunted expression.
Later, as Ayrane studied, James slept fitfully, haunted by nightmares.
"Leave me alone, please..." James begged, tears streaming down his face.
Ayrane rushed to James, shaking him awake.
"James, hey, it's okay. You're safe now."
James clung to Ayrane, tears flowing as he awakened from the nightmare.
Drunk men's faces faded, replaced by Ayrane's concerned gaze.
James's heart still racing, he buried his face in Ayrane's shoulder.
Ayrane held him close, whispering reassurances.
For the first time, James felt safe enough to confront his demons.
To be continued...
