Rule of beast

in our garden, lay
under a wisp of grasses
Cobra shedding slough -
refresh her skin
renew her stinger
glide
smile
feign
sluggish
beckon on naive hen
to pull off her slough

dare you
pull off cobra's slough
fellow naive fouls;
don't align with cobra
or seek her sadowy favour
prostrate
plead
crave
wail
she that lobby your mandate
will poke hole in your vanity -

is weird termite
that eats coffin and corpse
cadaver and casket
of those that built her hut,
fill her belly -
the minority
commons
masses
poor
with the wand of torture
she rules from coven!

The metaphorical slough shedding here is both intriguing and a bit unsettling as it transitions into darker themes with its termite reference. It’s like nature’s way of highlighting life’s fragility, even in the most unexpected ways.

The poem has some pretty unsettling imagery with those dark creatures and cobra shedding slough. It's a bit eerie but definitely paints a vivid picture.

The poem is a mix of playful imagery and dark undertones. Cobras shedding slough symbolizes renewal, while the termite's feast on coffins critiques a grim act. It's a bold take on life and death metaphors.

The poem captures a haunting beauty with its themes of decay and renewal, using surreal imagery like cobras shedding slough and termites gnawing through coffins. It seems to critique naivety, hinting that some aspects of life are inevitable no matter how much we cling to the past.
