The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued an arrest warrant for the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli and four other commissioners following their failure to appear before the Assembly.

The warrant was issued following the expiration of a 72-hour ultimatum given to them to appear today after an initial 48-hour deadline, which expired last Friday.

During plenary session, Speaker Martin Amaewhule and the House unanimously approved the warrant, reinforcing their demand for accountability from the officials of the commission.

Meanwhile, the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has vowed to defend the state to the last.

The Governor made the vow during the Commissioning of the palace of Nyeweali of Akpor Kingdom built and furnished by his administration as he gained massive support in Wike's political stronghold.

He thereby restated his administration’s continued commitment to the development and construction of key projects in the state which he said, will ensure a better standard of life for the residents and ultimately kick the state into a more developed atmosphere.
