Riddles of Dystopia

When the cloud hadn't formed in the sky
and the stars were not yet born - in the days
of my youthful vigour, the vibrant warrior god

She was in her prime, a gorgeous princess
of the gods who staggered with a sceptre
of torture from a den in the middle east

We met at the courtyard above
and had a vow to procreate warrior stars,
and I happened to be the first born

of the sun nursed on the lap of the sky,
tutored by the seraphs in divinity,
cosmology and astronomy at the
translunary institute above the moon

As a child of the ethereal, I am gifted
with the complete wit to predict and perturb

If you earnestly earn me an unsolicited
mandate to posses the iron crown sceptre,
I remains your providence to paradise

I will cover you with a leaking roof on rainy
days, and give you hailstone for water,
a thorny path for road, and wild fire for energy

I am the son of the sun, that was born
to bombast - a sibling of the warrior stars,
and a graduate of translunary institute

In the blood bath of power I bathe the masses
and roll down the curtain on employment

With sword and slug I endorse youths
to delete, confuse and control the needy,
while I wear the camouflage mask of a political

vendor and rule the eerie throne of bandit
and terrorist, kidnap for ransom, rape for lust
and kill for religious and tribal despisal

as I negotiate the terms of release
with my DYSTOPIAN throne of tribalism.

wait... I've read this like 3 times and I'm still not sure what I just experienced. Is this like a poem about some political figure? The middle part about the iron crown and then all the violence stuff at the end really threw me. Kinda feels like you're describing someone who started out as this mythical hero but then turned into a complete monster. That bit about 'rape for lust' and 'kill for religious despisal' hit hard. Not gonna lie, I'm a little uncomfortable but also kinda impressed by how raw this is.

Ha, that's exactly how I felt the first time I read it too. I think it's more of a mythological or spiritual piece than politics - could be a twist on an ancient creation story.

OK I'm genuinely curious about the "sceptre of torture from a den in the middle east" - that feels like a really specific image. What's the mythology or reference point there?

This feels like the opening to an epic myth that's about to take a wild turn. That "sceptre of torture" detail is so vivid and unsettling - I'd love to know where the rest of the story goes.

The imagery is striking but the fragment at the end leaves me hanging. Did something stop you from finishing the story, or is the cut intentional?

The cosmic scale of the first couple lines is beautiful, but that "sceptre of torture" line is so jarring and specific. Really curious what that represents, because it feels like a deliberate contrast to the celestial imagery.

Yes, the sceptre of torture is oppressive rule by demigod politicians. thank you very much for your response

The shift from cosmic imagery to a very specific "sceptre of torture" is jarring in a way that feels intentional. Almost like two different voices are colliding. Is that what you were going for?

Yes, the demigod politicians start with angelic tongue but end with the same tongue tongue. thank you very much for your response

Really feels like a mythology that exists somewhere between personal memory and ancient legend. That abrupt drop at the end makes me think the story got cut short on purpose.

The "vibrant warrior god" and "gorgeous princess" meeting at a courtyard sets up such an intriguing tension. That last line feels like a door left open. What were they about to do or discover?

The pacing is what gets me - it starts so vast and ancient, then narrows to something so specific and dark with that sceptre. Feels like the poem is collapsing time and space into one moment.
