In a strong affirmation of responsive and people-oriented governance, the Yobe State Government under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni has completed and commissioned a high-capacity water treatment plant in Buni Gari, Gujba Local Government Area.
The newly delivered facility has the capacity to produce up to 16 million liters of clean and safe drinking water every day, providing a sustainable and long-term solution to water scarcity in Buni Gari and adjoining communities.
The project aligns with Gov. Buni’s development vision that places essential services at the heart of governance. With access to potable water assured, the intervention is expected to improve public health outcomes, reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases, and support improved sanitation and economic activities.
State officials described the project as part of a wider, statewide effort to strengthen water infrastructure and ensure equitable access to clean water, particularly in communities rebuilding after years of insecurity and neglect.
Residents of Buni Gari have expressed appreciation for the project, noting that it will significantly reduce daily hardship and enhance quality of life, especially for women and children who previously faced the burden of travelling long distances to fetch water.
The completion of the Buni Gari water treatment plant once again highlights Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s results-focused leadership and his administration’s commitment to delivering tangible, life-improving projects across Yobe State.
