Son,
Remember where it all started
In the hut of a strong familial bond
With the wisdom of a respected father
And the care and tenderness of a loving mother

Remember the joy of a domestic relationship
The company of siblings with laughter beyond friendship
The communion of tasteless meals with relish without a frown
The bond of bearing one another's pains without a groan.

Remember the endurance exhibited in times of need
The dignity of satisfaction with little without greed
The disposition of temperance in the face of provocation
The power of peace of mind in the detention of expectations

Remember the tradition of the respect of elders
The gravity of obedience to the instruction of our fathers
The prayers and encouragement of our mothers
The anticipation of success from our brothers

Remember the value of our good name, cherished above gold
Our bald belief in the motto: 'no pain, no gain'.
Our indisputable faith in the maxim that says ' work is the antidote to poverty'.
That whatsoever earned is of more value than what is found

Remember the son of whom you are
Chastity is the leading compass in finding a partner
That 'marriage is honourable in all and the bed undefiled'
Is the guiding principle not only for our women but also our men.

Remember the resounding principle of patience
Without which your future is bleak and lost
The lack of which thousands have bitten the dust
Refrain from those who pursue riches at all cost

Then remember your Creator and Maker
Who here and hereafter is the only Power-Broker
The beginning and ending of all human existence
The indispensable umpire at the seat of judgement
