RAT RACE
In blink and twink
of eye, final lap of
incumbent regime
closed in -like highway
mirage; with its bits
and pieces of equivocal
administration; and
baton relinquish we
anticipate, to quit
honourably away,
for next accredited
wannabe.
While bloodless poll
masses yearn, and
hitch free transition,
sooner we seem
mindless became, of
ours political legacy
and pioneer democracy,
being this rat race
system antecedents,
and gunboat diplomacy,
ever gorier than vestiges
of history's early tales.
Four-year race,
like four decades in
maze; endured with
fear and aches.
Critically, now nervous
on finishing line,
scheming technical
strangulation or
physical elimination
of arch rival candidate.
It is not for love of us, but
for love of their pockets.
