Purrfect Agility: The Feline Righting Reflex That Defies Gravity.
Have you ever noticed that your cat always lands on its feet even if thrown into the air?
Are you amazed by your cat's ability to land on their feet every time? But have you ever wondered how they do it?
Dear Readership, This Agility is called feline righting reflex and it's an ability that allows cats to rotate their body in mid-air and land gracefully on their paws. This incredible flexibility is made possible by their unique spine structure and lack of collarbone. This allows them to twist and turn with ease even in middle of the air. Cats also have 32 muscles in each ear, which helps them rotate their head and body in mid-air (in addition to helping them detect sound).
FUN FACTS.
1. Cats can land on their feet from upside down in just 0.5 seconds!
2. They can even land on their feet when dropped from upside down in a bag!
The feline righting reflex is truly a remarkable ability that showcases the agility and flexibility of our feline friends. Whether they're landing from a high shelf or simply jumping off the bed, cats always seem to land on their feet with ease.
So next time you see your cat perform this impressive feat, remember the amazing science behind it!
Till we get to the promised land, I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for this race.
