Love thou art harmless, tenderly innocent, and unprovoken,
Yet in this age, most hath turned thee to be heartbroken.
Thy gentle touch once a balm to wounded souls,
Now tainted with deceit and treachery that unrolls.

Thy essence, once pure and true, now shrouded in doubt,
For many have betrayed thy sacred bond, casting love out.
The sweetness of thy embrace now tainted by bitter tears,
As hearts are shattered, consumed by crippling fears.

Yet amidst the darkness, a glimmer of hope shall shine,
For true love endures, its light shall never decline.
Though tested and scorned, it will rise above the fray,
Love's power, eternal, shall guide the weary on their way.
