Potiskum LGA was among the local government areas that suffered the worst insecurity in recent years among the local government areas of Yobe state that were hit by insecurity due to terrorist attacks; the local government has now regained its security status.
This was following the commitment of the Executive Chairman of Potiskum LGA, Hon. Salisu Muktari, to affirm the commitment of the Yobe state government under the leadership of Gov. Mai Mala Buni, FCIA, CON, COMN, on security matters and creating equality among the residents of Potiskum LGA and the good people of Yobe state as a whole.
Alh. Idriss Shuaibu, a resident of Arikime Ward in Dogo-nini, Potiskum Local Government Area confirmed:
"In the past years, we have faced serious security threats that have taken away our homes and properties and separated us from our relatives for years.
"Now, the Potiskum Local Government Area has regained its reputation for security and ensuring the smooth running of daily activities ranging from business, education, agriculture, and livestock, as a result of which we are not facing any security threat in any area.
"We must thank the almighty God, our esteemed governor and our esteemed chairman for their continued commitment to ensuring that every plan put in place by the Yobe State government to provide stability to our people has been implemented.
"Since 2019, the Potiskum Local Government Area has not faced any security threat. We have experienced 0% attacks and other incidents that could cause fear and intimidation in our hearts, let alone disrupt our daily activities.
"Potiskum Local Government Area is now standing tall and living up to its name of Potiskum, which we inherited from our parents and grandparents." Said Alh. Shuaibu
Hon. Salisu Muktari is using every opportunity of closeness or direct contact he has to improve the lives of the good people of Potiskum Local Government Area.
