Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, has delivered a powerful message to youths and aspiring politicians, reminding them that the foundation of politics lies in patience, loyalty, and sacrifice—not greed or selfish ambition.

The governor made the call today at the Government House, Damaturu, while presiding over the swearing-in of the newly appointed Grand Khadi of Yobe State, several special advisers, a permanent member of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and 13 permanent secretaries.

Addressing the large gathering of dignitaries, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and members of the public, Governor Buni emphasized that politics must be approached as a long-term commitment to service and the welfare of the people, rather than a shortcut to personal enrichment.

“Politics is about patience, sacrifice, and obedience; success cannot be achieved with greed or haste. If our youths embrace resilience, loyalty, and dedication, tomorrow they will become leaders at different levels of governance,” the governor said.

He urged young politicians to understand that political leadership requires discipline, humility, and loyalty to both leaders and the people they serve. He cautioned that selfishness and greed not only undermine individual ambition but also weaken the collective fabric of governance.

Turning to the newly sworn-in officials, Governor Buni reminded them that leadership is a sacred trust bestowed by both Allah and the people, stressing the need for honesty, integrity, and transparency.

“The responsibility given to you is a trust from God and from the people; you must discharge it with sincerity, dedication, and accountability. By doing so, you will leave behind a lasting legacy of good governance for the good people of Yobe,” he charged.

The event was described as a milestone in Governor Buni’s commitment to entrenching good governance and nurturing the next generation of leaders.

Many stakeholders hailed his vision of instilling patience, discipline, and integrity as core values for political leadership in the state.
