Presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has described the issue of vote-buying in Nigeria as a calculated investment in corruption that undermines the nation’s democracy.

Obi, in a social media post, argued that politicians who purchase votes are securing a licence to steal public funds, diverting resources meant for schools, hospitals, and jobs into private pockets.

While challenging the notion that voters are innocent victims, Obi asserted that those who sell their votes are complicit in their own misfortune.

He urged Nigerians to be responsible and reject vote selling in order to elect leaders that will build and rise above temporary gain to reclaim the future of the country.

Voting is a right, but buying votes is wrong. Hopefuls should focus more on policies than buying votes. Let’s work together to ensure our democracy thrives. ✅ #EndCorruption

The importance of democracy is real, and it's disheartening to hear about vote buying. Hopefully, Nigerians can find leaders who truly want to build a better future.
