People becoming Materialists

Once, humanity, had a deeper soul,
Connection, meaning, filled the whole.
But now, it seems, things have changed,
Our values shifted, rearranged.
We seek possessions, new and shiny,
Material things, oh, so tiny.
Our hearts, turned cold, our spirits weak,
As we grasp for things, beyond our reach.
The things we want, we cannot hold,
So empty inside, our hearts turned cold.
