ORDINARY MIRACLES

It's funny how we tend to overlook simple, common blessings.
The ability to use our legs,
to stand, to walk, to run, and to kick;
the ability to see, to hear,
and to express ourselves through words,
facial expressions, and body language.

To see another morning or another night,
the blessings of family and friends,
a roof over our heads,
being able to afford daily necessities,
or the ability to simply breathe
and be among the living.

Being healthy and mobile,
being able to sleep, or to eat,
and living in a conducive environment,
where there's an absence of war, viruses, hunger, natural catastrophies,
and access to common amenities.

Many times, we say, "I have a bad life,"
and feel there's nothing to be thankful for,
because we don't get what we desire
or huge, obvious, significant miracles.

We tend to overlook the tiny bits
that keep us going,
Magic that seems ordinary,
that happen to us every single day,
because they seem normal, common.

But if we would only look closely
and see how many others are deprived
of these common, simple, insignificant things,
then we'd realize just how many blessings
we take for granted.
