It is indeed fitting that Muhammadu Buhari be given an honor that goes beyond politics or power for his dedication and love for Nigeria, whicrved from his youth to old age until his ddeath, which occurred on Sunday, July 13th, 2025.

While there are various acrespect and mourning his death, on the other hand, there are those who express well-being, jjoy, and happiness at his death, but if you ask after all this, everyone is satisfied with the recognition that Buhari served Nigeria to the best of his ability in both public and private life, which is why his dedication and patriotism made the people call himBaba Buhari Me Gaskiya.

Although many of his policies have clashed with public opinion, we must admit that he has done many things for the future of the people of the country and the country itself. Although I was a critic of his views and policies after the 2015 elections, which led to me being harassed, insulted, and even imprisoned for days and invited by the DSS on several occasions, I choose to honor today a man who dedicated his life to improving the lives of the people and bringing about change in our blessed country.

During his military rule, Buhari established a system of discipline and the fight against immorality. He assumed power in 1983 as a military president. Before his accession, the people saw Nigeria on the verge of collapse due to serious corruption, indiscipline, and lack of law and order.

Buhari, in less than two years of his military rule, has made many people believe that Nigeria can be a source of pride for them and the developing country in the future. Although his policies, especially the War Against Indiscipline (WAI), which was implemented under the program to enforce cleanliness, punctuality, and public accountability, have certainly worked hard to restore order and improve the rule of law in the country, which has restored the country's prestige and fulfilled the dreams of its citizens.

Buhari has also fought against corruption, condemning government officials who embezzled public funds and used the system to prioritize personal interests over the development of the country, and has implemented a monetary and economic reform that has caused controversy by changing the Nigerian currency and curbing money laundering in order to revive the country's collapsed economy, and he has played a significant role in curbing drug trafficking and smuggling.

These military policies played a key role in his being re-elected in the civilian government that was to restore peace and order in the country after the collapse of previous governments in 2015.

His return to power in 2015 was seen by Nigerians as a chance for Buhari to repair the damage done by democracy, and he has done so despite his shortcomings.

Buhari has made remarkable strides in the country’s development despite the global economic downturn he faced during his eight years in power.

He completed the Second Niger Bridge, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the expansion of airports and seaports, the introduction of structural reforms in the agricultural sector, the reform of the anti-corruption agencies, the creation of a single treasury account, the digitalization of civil servants, the creation of N-Power, the provision of school feedings, and the exchange of money that has had a significant impact on the survival of African people.

Whether we believe it or not, Baba Buhari lived a humble life because he did not own oil wells, did not own a private airplane, and did not plunder public funds.

It is good that we do not remember him as a saint or a savior but remember him as a man who was passionate about our country and who served it for more than fifty years of his life.

Buhari ruled with discipline, retired with restraint, and returned to God with dignity, so whether we do it or not, let us not forget the true history. I write this with a heart full of sadness as tears flow from my eyes.

Rest in peace, our own hero, Baba Buhari Mai Gaskiya.
