The ongoing construction of the Potiskum–Degubi road under the leadership of Governor Hon. Dr. Mai Mala Buni, CON, is steadily gaining momentum, drawing commendation from residents of Potiskum and Degubi in Nangere Local Government Area and strengthening confidence in the administration’s development-driven agenda.

The project, which is currently in progress, is being executed by the Yobe State Ministry of Works under the supervision of the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Umaru Wakili Duddaye. It is widely viewed as a strategic intervention aimed at unlocking the economic potential of the area while enhancing connectivity between rural and urban communities.

Community members and local stakeholders have described the ongoing work as a clear demonstration of purposeful governance, noting that the road, upon completion, will significantly improve the movement of goods and people, reduce transportation costs, and stimulate commercial activities across the region.

Farmers, traders, and small business operators are particularly optimistic about the opportunities the road will create for expanded market access and increased productivity.

From an economic standpoint, the project is expected to open up new growth corridors, attract investments, and strengthen inter-community trade, thereby contributing to sustainable economic development in the state.

The ongoing project continues to reinforce public trust in Gov. Buni’s administration, with many residents interpreting it as evidence of inclusive governance and a commitment to equitable distribution of infrastructure across all parts of Yobe State.

The Potiskum–Degubi road project aligns with the administration’s broader policy of using infrastructure as a tool for economic revitalization and grassroots development. In line with this vision, the government has continued to implement road construction and drainage projects across all seventeen local government areas, ensuring that no community is left behind.

As construction progresses, the project stands as a strong symbol of the administration’s resolve to deliver impactful, people-centered development while laying a solid foundation for long-term economic growth and political stability in Yobe State.
