Yobe State has restored the prestige of education under the administration of Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN, with the emphasis on "No Child Left Behind" in the pursuit of education, a step that is transforming the future of the state.
Since assuming office, Governor Buni has made education a cornerstone of his development policies, rebuilding the sector from the devastation and violence that once crippled education across the state.
Over 300 schools destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents have been rebuilt, while 627 new classrooms have been built and 448 renovated to provide a modern learning environment for children.
The government has also built seven Mega Schools, seven Model Schools, and 10 new Government Girls' Schools to ensure that girls' education receives the attention it deserves. With these investments, thousands of students are now back in the classroom, learning in a safe and secure environment.
Governor Buni’s government is also shouldering the responsibility of parents. The state government is paying for the WAEC and NECO exams for all public school students, providing scholarships to thousands of students, and spending billions of naira annually on school supplies to boost morale.
These initiatives are already bearing fruit, as three Yobe girls recently made international headlines by winning medals at the Teen Eagle Global Championships in London, bringing pride to the state and Nigeria as a whole. Their success is a shining example of what is possible under Governor Buni’s education reforms.
Governor Buni stressed that education is the foundation of development, and his government is determined to see that every child in Yobe, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to succeed in education.
Indeed, from rebuilding destroyed schools to building new ones and supporting students, Governor Mai Mala Buni is ensuring that no child is left behind in Yobe.
