The Federal Government has announced that the National Identification Number, NIN issued by the National Identity Management Commission has automatically become the Tax Identification Number for individual Nigerians.

The clarification was made in a public awareness campaign on the new tax laws shared by the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS on X, urging Nigerians to disregard misinformation surrounding the reform.

The statement also noted that registered businesses will no longer require a separate Tax ID, saying their Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC registration number will now serve as their official tax identifier under the new tax system.

According to the Service, the new system is designed to simplify identification, reduce duplication, close loopholes for tax evasion, and promote fairness by ensuring that everyone who earns taxable income contributes appropriately.

This is awesome! Simplifying things can really help reduce duplication and make life easier overall. It’s great that businesses don’t need separate IDs now. This seems like a solid move to streamline processes.

Cool deal! The new system sounds like a much-needed reform. Automating identification for tax purposes is awesome, and businesses can now rely on their existing CAC numbers. This will simplify things and help fight tax evasion. Can't wait to see how it impacts everyday Nigerians.

Wait, this is so true... I'm trying to wrap my head around how NIN becoming the new tax ID will affect me personally. Hmm, wonder if businesses are switching over smoothly without a hitch. Maybe they'll have to update all their records? Oh, well, at least it's meant to simplify things for everyone involved.

Wait, this is so true... I was just thinking about how NIN could be useful for tax purposes! But now they're saying it's the same as TIN? Hmm, that seems too convenient. I guess businesses are already using their CAC numbers since they don't need a separate ID anymore. Still, I wonder if this will make things smoother or maybe open up new opportunities for tax evasion. Either way, it's good to know we're covered now.

That's awesome! I guess this new system is here to streamline things for everyone. But wait, will they still respect our privacy? Hmm, that's a good question.

Wait, this is so true... I guess it's supposed to make things easier for everyone. Though I wonder if businesses will be happy about losing that extra ID. Let me know what you think!
