NiMet set to release 2025 seasonal climate prediction February 4

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NIMET has announced the unveiling of its 2025 Seasonal Climate Prediction on February 4, 2025.
The agency in a statement noted that in line with its mandate to advise the government and public on weather, climate, and water-related matters, the presentation will provide critical climate-related forecasts for the year.
Speaking about the upcoming event, the Agency’s Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Charles Anosike, explained the significance of the document, emphasising its importance in addressing the needs of various sectors.
According to him, the document will feature detailed forecasts, including the onset and cessation dates of the rainy season, the length of the cropping season, the expected total rainfall in all 774 Local Government Areas, temperature projections from January to May, and vigilance forecasts for malaria and meningitis.
He added that socioeconomic implications of the expected rainfall and temperature patterns for some sectors of the economy will also be presented in the publication.
