Hi, Happy New Year to you once again
This is officially my first post for the year and it feels great to actually post this.
A few things happened over the holidays, most of which are very good and I am grateful for how things have been for me.
In this post and following posts, I'll highlight a glimpse of my process as I finish writing a screenplay for a short movie.
Now, I won't reveal any details about what the story is about but I'll just share what I did on the first day I started, what I learned, if I had any challenges etc.
I will also give tips as time goes on and I do hope you all enjoy this process as much as I am.
Thank you for being here and let's look into what I did in day one
15th January, 2025
Day one of writing a short screenplay...
Today, I wrote the logline of the story.
I wrote what I call the 'first draft' of the logline.
It wasn't exactly what I needed but I made sure to write various samples so I could compare which captures the essence of the story well.
The sample I picked could still need some rewrite but I was able to decide on the logline that tells what my audience should expect when reading my screenplay.
While surfing the internet, I stumbled on a very interesting website nofilmschool.com and was able to learn more about screenplay.
Since I had finished my course on scriptwriting and screenplay, I learned so much about the formatting, logline, creating your characters, the difference between scriptwriting/screenplay writing and novel writing, etc. and many more.
No Film School is a really great website to learn about the nook and cranny of script and screenplay.
I recently found this website and I'm already loving what I learned in a short period.
So, if you want to venture into screenplay, No Film School is the right plug for you.
Back to what I did today…
Writing only the logline on the first day might seem little but it's not.
I think of it as a big step I took in achieving my goal of finishing this screenplay.
When I get home, I'll read the synopsis of the script again then play around with how I want to start the script before moving to the next step which I will reveal in the next post.
Thank you for reading and I apologize for the long post.
See you in my next post, keep smiling and GOD bless you all 🤗
