NEMA DISTRIBUTES RELIEF MATERIALS TO VICTIMS OF TANKER EXPLOSION

The National Emergency Management Agency has distributed food, non-food items, and medical supplies to support the treatment of injured victims and provide relief to the affected families.

The agency’s Director General, Zubaida Umar disclosed this in a statement today as part of response to the tragic petrol tanker fire disaster at Dikko Junction in Niger State which claimed 98 lives, injured 69 people and destroyed 20 shops.

Umar flagged off the distribution of the relief materials during a visitation to sympathise with the affected community.

She stated that the intervention is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive and the Federal Government’s commitment to assisting the community in recovering from the disaster.

While assuring that the agency would coordinate comprehensive efforts to aid their recovery, Umar stressed the need for communities to prioritise disaster preparedness and proactive measures to safeguard lives and property.
