My Sinking Funds (So I Never Get Surprised by Bills)

Monthly set-asides for expenses I KNOW are coming:

Car Maintenance: $75/month ($900/year)
Christmas/Gifts: $50/month ($600/year)
Medical/Dental: $40/month ($480/year)
Home Repairs: $60/month ($720/year)
Annual Subscriptions: $25/month ($300/year)
Vacation: $100/month ($1,200/year)
Clothing: $30/month ($360/year)
Pet Care: $20/month ($240/year)

Total: $400/month for $4,800 in predictable expenses.

A sinking fund is not an emergency. It is a bill you saw coming and refused to be surprised by.

Ugh the car maintenance one hit me hard. Just had to drop $700 on new tires outta nowhere and I was kicking myself for not having this set up. Do you keep the sinking fund money in a separate account or just track it in a spreadsheet? I've tried both and keep messing it up lol

Oof, $700 on tires is rough! Yeah, that's exactly why I started this system - saves you from that gut-punch feeling. Do you think you'll try setting aside a smaller amount each month going forward?

Oh man, I feel you. That's exactly why I started doing it - those surprise tire or brake bills are the worst. $75 a month hurts way less than $700 all at once, right?

Oh man, I feel your pain! That's exactly why I started doing this - those surprise tire replacements hurt way less when the money's already set aside. You got this now!

Girl, I feel that pain so much. That exact tire surprise is what made me start this system. Now I put $62/month aside for tires specifically on top of the general car fund.

I feel you! That's exactly why I started this system. Tires always seem to come at the worst time, right? Are you thinking of setting up a sinking fund now for next time?
