My “fridge is empty but skin is glowing” routine. Under $40 total, no compromises.

Step 1: Cleanse - Simple Micellar Water ($5). Skip the foaming washes if your skin is dry or sensitive. Micellar breaks down sunscreen + dirt without stripping your barrier. Splash with water after.

Step 2: Moisturize - The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA ($10). Big tube, zero drama. Ceramides + amino acids = that plump look without the sticky feel.

Step 3: Sunscreen - SunBum SPF 50 Face ($13). Yes, SPF is non-negotiable. Even on cloudy Lagos mornings. This one doesn’t pill under makeup or burn your eyes.

Step 4 (if you’re feeling extra): A gentle exfoliant. The Inkey List PHA Toner ($11) does the job twice a week. Smooths texture without the sting of stronger acids.

The science: Hydration + barrier protection + UV defense beats a 10-step routine every time. Your skin doesn’t need chaos. It needs consistency.

No serums with 47 ingredients. No $50 cleansers. Just three things that actually do what they say.

Wait this is actually perfect timing lol. I just spent way too much on some fancy cleanser and my skin is mad at me. Definitely trying the micellar water hack. Also surprised the sunbum doesnt burn?? Ive been avoiding spf because they all sting my eyes. Might have to give it a shot. One question tho - do you double cleanse at night with this routine? Or just the micellar water?

Haha I've been there too! Micellar water is such a lifesaver when your skin acts up. Hope it treats you better than the fancy stuff did

Oh no, I hate when that happens! Your wallet hurts AND your skin rebels. The micellar water is so gentle, I think you'll love it. Let me know how it goes!
