MY FIRST EXPERIENCE IN SCHOOL.

With no one to call and no place to go, I squatted with my bag clutched tightly to my chest.

I was in a strange land where I had no family or a friend. it was getting dark and all hopes of getting a temporal space to lay my head was quickly dashing away as the person I was meant to contact bailed out at the last minute.

God! How do I find my way around here? tears began to stream down my eyes. Looking above the dark clouds, I offered a silent prayer to God to send help.

I had been so eager to resume my first semester in the higher institution that I hadn't paid attention to important details.

With trembling hands, I placed a call across home to update my family about my situation. My mum was understandably worried and panicked at the thought of her child stranded on the street in a land she knew nothing about.

Arrangements for accommodation had been made before I left home, but everything fell through when the people meant to pick me up didn't show.

Just when I thought all hope was lost, I received a call that someone was coming to get me. It turned out my sister had reached out to a friend way back from school who then found someone in the school to help me.

My prayers were answered when the help arrived. a lady picked me up and took me to her apartment. Despite not knowing her, I decided to trust her, Just wanting a place to lay my head.

I ended up staying with this lady for the first half months of the semester without paying a dime.

My experience taught me that we don't necessarily have to know someone to show them kindness. In an age where many overlook those in need, it's important to know that our help to others goes a long way.

Yes, there are risks in helping others sometimes, but there are also people out there who genuinely are stranded and in need of assistance.

Just like the lady who helped me, we should set aside negative thoughts and offer help to those who are truly in need of it.

She may have considered I could be a danger in some ways but despite her uncertainties, she gave me a chance to prove myself.

Let's try to set aside our fears of helping people and give others the chance to prove themselves.
